Not All of Florida is Flat!
Mountain Biking in Tallahassee
BUT FLORIDA DOESN’T HAVE MOUNTAINS!
If I had a nickel for every time I have heard that …
OK, so we don’t have mountains in Tallahassee, but we do have amazing mountain bike trails. The unexpected hills around Tallahassee provide challenging and fun rides within minutes of downtown. With new trails on tap at the J.R. Alford Greenway and Apalachee Regional Park and the inaugural Tallahassee Trail Festival slated to take place in March, we truly are a rider’s paradise. The Tallahassee Mountain Bike Association (TMBA) works with local leaders to make sure our trails keep getting better.
If you’re looking for a trail to introduce you to mountain biking in Tallahassee, Munson Hills is the place to start. With over 20 miles of trail, it is perfect for beginners and families to ride. The smooth and flowy single track is fun for all skill levels.
Want more of a challenge? Tom Brown Park is ready for you! You’ll love the Cadillac and Magnolia Trails where you can test yourself on their technical features and various jump lines. Before you leave, don’t forget to hit the new world-class asphalt pump track for a heart pounding lap or two.
» PRETTIEST TRAIL Munson Hills is a fast and sprawling trail that doesn’t have difficult features such as rocks, roots or steep inclines.
» MOST CHALLENGING TRAIL Red Bug at Phipps is full of roots, sharp turns and challenging switchbacks. It also has a rock garden that requires very good mountain biking skills to navigate.
» MOST UNEXPECTED TRAIL Tom Brown Park, which includes the Gun Range, Magnolia and East/West Cadillac trails. Tom Brown also has a variety of riding, from very technical to fast and easy.
I’ll look for you on the trails!
